About NEET UG

NEET UG is India's single national entrance examination for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, and other undergraduate health science courses across government and private colleges. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), NEET UG is mandatory for AIIMS, JIPMER, and all central, state, and private medical colleges. Over 24 lakh candidates appear annually.

The exam consists of 200 questions (candidates attempt 180) across Physics (45), Chemistry (45), Botany (45), and Zoology (45). Each correct answer: +4 marks. Each wrong answer: −1 mark. Maximum marks: 720. Duration: 3 hours 20 minutes. Each section has two parts: Section A (35 questions, all compulsory) and Section B (15 questions, attempt any 10).

NEET UG covers the NCERT Class 11 and 12 syllabus exclusively. The cutoff for MBBS admission in government colleges (General category) typically ranges from 550–620 out of 720. AIIMS New Delhi requires approximately 680+ marks.
