About JKPSI

The JKSSB Sub Inspector of Police (PSI) examination recruits officers for the J&K Police force under the Home Department of J&K UT. Advertisement Notification 02 of 2024 (dated 22 November 2024) announced the current round of JKPSI recruitment. Sub Inspectors serve as frontline supervisory officers in law enforcement, investigation, traffic, and public order management across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The written examination per the 2024 notification consists of 100 objective-type MCQ questions, each carrying 2 marks, for a total of 200 marks. Duration is 120 minutes. Negative marking of 0.5 marks applies per wrong answer. The six sections are: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension, Mathematical Abilities, and Computer Proficiency.

A key change from earlier JKPSI exams: the 2024 syllabus removes the Law/Legal Knowledge section (IPC, CrPC, Evidence Act) and replaces it with Computer Proficiency (15 questions) and a dedicated Mathematical Abilities section. Candidates who prepared using the 2017 paper should note that Law questions will not appear. The 2017 paper (120 questions, −0.25 marking) remains available on Ministry of Papers as a practice resource for Reasoning, GK, and English sections.
